According to the report by GitHub, there is about ninety-seven percent of the open-source software used in social applications.
Open-source software is a type of software in which the user is allowed to share the source code of the software and they are granted permission by the copyright holder to utilize, examine, modify, and transfer it to anyone and for any purpose.
Nowadays, almost everything is powered by open-source software system. An incredible 97% of apps and 90% of businesses use open source to some extent. During 2022, GitHub massively contributed to the same source of the software itself.
According to the perspective of Martin Woodward, vice president of development at the company, open-source software services act as the basis of all software that is in use nowadays. Open source offers several advantages, including a swift and flexible working culture and the opportunity for global developers’ cooperation. He believes that the chance of advancement increases when we all work collectively instead of splitting into groups or individuals. Additionally, the open-source environment is changing and then positively affecting creators, firms, and other institutions worldwide.
Companies all around the world are taking interest in OSS. They are determined to establish open-source software groups and offices to cooperate with the OSS plan. As a result, when renowned organizations start to embrace an open-source system, more individuals will be able to participate and support it and get benefitted from it.
The report claims that GitHub is trying to increase the number of developers, regardless of where they belong, what was their past, or what qualifications they have. The increment of 92.2 million developers as compared to the past ten years is evidence of the ongoing expansion of GitHub’s system.
It was further mentioned in the report that JavaScript continues to be the most practiced language by software developers among approximately 500 different main languages. Then comes Python preceded by Java (instead of showing any deterioration is still the same one) and TypeScript.
It should not come as a surprise that Artificial Intelligence is accelerating coding so that developers could experience some enhancements. The developers are satisfied with AI productivity and gave positive reviews about their coding, help in time reduction, and less cognitive involvement.
As the system is expanding, a high level of security will be required to safeguard the system. The creation of policies to expect improvements in the risk of security and emphasis on the encoding of secure code is underway completion.

Twitter’s Blue Subscription Disappears From The App After Users Abuse The Feature
A new day means a new type of drama taking center stage in the world of Twitter.
Today, many were appalled to see the Twitter Blue Subscription disappear from the platform. The company says that the decision was taken in light of the great amount of abuse that came forward where impersonators were running at an all-time high.
They also confirmed how the feature is not canceled but has been paused on a temporary basis after seeing users’ responses to the offering’s rollout.
Twitter says top brands and celebs were being impersonated and things were certainly getting a little chaotic. The service was first launched during the earlier part of this week on the iPhone application.
This meant users were allowed to purchase checkmarks that were getting used to showcase accounts as either verified or official. Meanwhile, on Friday, the feature suddenly vanished and there was no such option present that would enable users to sign up for the app’s subscription. Moreover, the rapid suspension of this service is hinting more toward Elon Musk’s massive plans to make more revenue through users is definitely not working.
After the rollout of the paid subscription feature, we saw so many pranksters making imposter accounts on the app. And that is what made the app so much more vulnerable to attacks of misinformation.
People were buying checkmarks at cheap costs and pretending that they were someone else such as a celeb, politician, and more. And the posts or content being put up was certainly unflattering.
A current employee working on the platform mentioned how the firm opted to pull away from the entire verification process, thanks to the spike in impersonators.
One worker currently working in the firm says there was an account that pretended it was the famous pharmaceutical giant called Eli Lilly. And that’s when it caused massive issues when it tweeted that insulin would be up for grabs for free.
This particular post stayed on the app for a while until people found it was time to quickly take it down. Later, they even issued an apology, calling the event unfortunate and misleading for obvious reasons. But before the firm knew it, the price of stocks had fallen massively after this fake post went viral.
The news is a major concern for people like advertisers who see this as a hurdle and hence are now taking drastic steps to pause spending in this regard. On the other hand, some users that did pay for the Twitter Blue service say the blue ticks have mysteriously disappeared.

Instagram and TikTok seem to have locked horns for the attention of GenZ, Report reveals
GenZ, who in the world is known more iconically for their social media obsession and usage of platforms, and who knows it better than Instagram and TikTok who themselves are both favorites of the generation. The former is one of the most used socializing apps and is loved by the younger generation because it allows you to do everything. You can post temporary life updates in the form of stories, you can post permanent pictures unless you delete them, videos can also be shared and you can also talk to your friends while keeping up with their profiles. TikTok however, does not enable you to share photos and everything you post on the app is permanent unless you delete it yourself.
Piper Sandler conducted a survey based on this very topic called Taking Stock With Teens. In the survey, they talked to 14,500 teens with American nationalities.
The report found that Instagram which has been declared GenZ’s favorite app is now in danger of being overtaken by TikTok which has recently started to catch up with the social media giant and is giving it huge competition for the attention of the younger generation according to social media consultant Matt Navarra. Instagram has long since been associated with the generation and if TikTok claims that Mantle we will see what their support does for the app.

Instagram Allows Users To Add Music To Still Image Posts
Instagram is providing users with another great chance to incorporate music into the whole in-app experience.
So that means, you can include music to still image posts, something that not many people saw coming.
The news was recently published by the company which mentioned how much it values music and how popular of a feature it is for users of the platform. People get the chance to express so much of themselves through this medium and they couldn’t be more excited to include this ability in the images on users’ Feeds. It’s like a better way to tell your story with expressions like music.
As it is, both Reels and Stories give users the chance to include tunes that best suit the picture’s mood or theme. And no matter what format works best in terms of telling a story, users get the chance to add music to their favorite picture moment and bring it to life again.
Before posting up an image, users can ‘Add Music’ into the post composer. You get the chance to search for various tracks that can be accompanied by a picture post. Any segment can be chosen between the 5 to the 90-second duration for the track to use. It just provides a lot of additional content and new elements to the post in general.
Some people might feel this isn’t too necessary while others could get the feeling that it’s in line with what TikTok is gaining great success from via music integration. Remember, tunes are great for content engagement and it just adds a whole new element of creativity to the post on the app.
And then another school of thought says that this is just a still picture. Does it really need a tune? Would it really add more value to the post at hand or not?
For now, we feel Instagram has definitely thought about the ordeal and hence opted to go with it. It’s definitely a feature that could be a part of so many tools and features in the pipeline. As the app mentioned, it features so many music tracks for both Reels and Stories. Hence, including something similar for images might not be a huge development.
As far as brands are concerned, we think it might be a limited feature. Similar to the way you were being restricted from using certain tunes on Reels or Stories, they’ll now be restricted further for licensed tracks through the company’s Sound Collection for image and audio accompaniments.
Now that might not be too bad and there could be different ways to get audiences engaged but here’s a fresh start. And we feel it might be too quick to judge.
In the past year, we’ve seen the app include so many types of sounds that make up engaging posts and that align with various usage behaviors. From various AR effects to music shares on your DMs, the app loves to experiment.
Soon, we could even see songs seen across user profiles make their way.

Instagram is adding a new feature to share moments, just like BeReal
Meta's Instagram is currently planning to introduce a new feature on its platform, as highlighted by Alessandro Paluzzi, a leaker, and developer. Alessandro recently tweeted that the social media giant is adding “Glimpse” as a new way to share moments.
The idea behind Glimpse is similar to the one offered by the famous French social media application, BeReal. The concept is to share a picture once a day without any filters to make it more authentic. Similarly, Glimpse users will be able to share what they are doing at any given time of the day by snapping from the front and back cameras.
Initially, when the feature was first under discussion back in August 2022, the name was going to be “Candid Challenge." Users would have a limited amount of time, according to some sources, 2 minutes, to share a picture of what they are up to at the time of the challenge. The reason why BeReal gained popularity was that it promoted authenticity among users. Instead of posting about all the good things, BeReal asks its users to share more about their daily life activities.
But according to the post shared by Alessandro, Instagram is giving up the idea of challenges and just working on a feature where there will be no time limit. A user will only be allowed to view glimpses of others if they share a glimpse of themselves as well.
In comparison to BeReal, Glimpse will let its users post their moments more than once, whereas, on the French app, the users will be notified randomly by the app that now is the time to post about what they are up to. And for next time, they will have to wait another day.
One of the screenshots shared by Alessandro shows that Instagram glimpses will only be shared with followers and not with the public. Though no official news has been shared by the officials, based on the snapshots shared in the tweet, it appears that the feature will be available shortly.

86% of Consumers Believe Google Should Stop Using Third Party Cookies
By this point most consumers are aware that they are being constantly tracked online, and Adtaxi’s recent survey confirms this to be true. 95% of consumers who responded to this survey said that they know they are being tracked, and 86% were of the opinion that Google needed to stop using third party trackers and change their data collection policies with all things having been considered and taken into account.
In spite of the fact that this is the case, Google keeps delaying the discontinuation of third party tracking on its platform. After Apple’s bold move toggling off third party tracking by default, Google was left to figure out its own path and it is taking a long time getting there. Google has now delayed the complete discontinuation of tracking cookies until 2024 because of the fact that this is the sort of thing that could potentially end up giving advertisers some time in which they can go about adjusting to the new way of doing things.
60% of consumers don’t allow tracking from any websites regardless of the type of data that they are being requested to share. With all of that having been said and now out of the way, it is important to note that there are also some preferences at play here with respect to what types of data consumers are more willing to offer in exchange for services and these preferences are changing dramatically.
Last year, 44% of all consumer said that they wanted contact information to be shared before any other sensitive bits of data pertaining to their creed, location or browsing history. This has now fallen to 38%, which suggests that consumers are more willing to have their data collected than might have been the case otherwise.
The more familiar a user is with a site, the more willing they would be to allow it to harvest data from them. This is something that website owners and brands should keep in mind, and it can facilitate the creation of a more symbiotic relationship between brands and consumers instead of the parasitic one they have right now.
