60% of SEOs Say They Won’t Use AI for Translation

AI has an abundance of use cases all of which can come in handy for SEO purposes, but in spite of the fact that this is the case, it turns out that many SEO professionals are not willing to use it. One of the many ways in which AI could end up being used is for the purposes of translation, yet a recent X poll revealed that a majority of SEO experts are not interested in utilizing it for this at least in its present state.

62.3% of the people that responded to this survey stated that using AI for translation as of right now is a bit too risky with all things having been considered and taken into account. The risk might be because of the fact that this is the sort of thing that could potentially end up running afoul of Google’s rules pertaining to machine translation.

While AI is certainly more effective at translating than the tools that came before, using it would make it more likely that Google would rank a site lower than might have been the case otherwise. Another possible reason for this could be that AI translation simply isn’t advanced enough to provide the best results that people are looking for.

Native translators therefore still have a role to play. It seems unlikely that AI would be capable of surpassing their skill levels at least in the near future, which just goes to show that AI is not quite the problem solver and job killer that many people think it to be.

Sites could very well end up ruining their search engine results page rankings if they were to use AI instead of a human translator. It will be interesting to see how this affects the progression of AI in later years, since translation is among the most popular ways in which it can help people. John Mueller himself, the SEO chief at Google, has compared AI translation to machine translation and pondered over whether or not there are any differences between them. This further confirms that using it might be detrimental for SEO.

Data from the National Center for Education Statistics was compiled in order to give a better idea of which undergrad degrees are popular than might have been the case otherwise.

With all of that having been said and now out of the way, it is important to note that business degrees have maintained their healthy lead at the top of the charts. In the 2020 to 2021 academic year, over 390,000 students graduated with this field of specialization. In spite of the fact that this is the case, it only saw a 7% growth in the past decade, with other fields showing much more growth.

With all of that having been said and now out of the way, it is important to note that Mr. Beast, which is the online pseudonym of Jimmy Donaldson, came out on top with $54 million dollars in 2021 alone. Danielle Bregoli, also known as Bhad Bhabie, came in second with $51 million, although her earnings came from OnlyFans rather than YouTube.

The rest of the entrants in the top five list are all YouTube veterans, with the controversial creator known as Jake Paul coming in third with $45 million. Google Is Nearing Its 25th Birthday Celebrations But AI Is The Only Thing On Its CEO’s Mind

Search engine giant Google is getting close to celebrating its historic 25th birthday. But the only thing that seems to be on its CEO’s mind right now is AI.

The company has undoubtedly made a huge contribution to the evolution of the history of the World Wide Web. However, Sundar Pichai claims that the world of AI is going to only get bigger and better than what most of us may have assumed.

The latest updates on this matter were unveiled through a blog post by the Google chief himself. He’s been in power since the year 2015 and he claims that AI is going to take on a massive technical shift while we’re in existence. And Pichai feels it’s a massive deal, probably bigger than what the internet poses itself.

We’ve seen the tech giant play leading roles in terms of how the internet functions for quite some time now. It’s true that the cofounders have really gone the extra mile to make sure everyone has access to it around the world.

But thanks to the uprising of AI technology, and the rollout of revolutionary tools like ChatGPT, we’ve seen so many companies racing ahead to adopt the new trend. After all, AI brings with it a lot of offerings and a brand new approach to looking for data, among a leading number of other uses.

The firm also has a long-term history of working by the side of AI, especially after it took on the firm DeepMind for a whopping $500 million. But that was not an easy purchase as the competition was tough and we saw people now generating prompts to chatbots and getting immediate responses with great accuracy. Clearly, that meant Google had to pull its socks up if it wished to gain more momentum in the AI race.

Soon, we saw the Android maker become awfully worried about the role of AI and how swiftly it was affecting the digital world. This was to such an extent that the CEO launched code red, shortly after the ChatGPT rollout in 2022. Then we saw speculations related to how Brin continued to pay visits to the company’s head office at a more frequent pace than before, just because greater work on AI endeavors was happening.

In the blog that Pichai just sent out, he says AI really did prove to be a revolution in terms of technology today. It rewired the entire system and was a great form of acceleration of the concept linked to human ingenuity.

The firm had its own fair share of rollouts in the AI world including the chatbot dubbed Bard. This was launched in the month of February and now, more news about the launch of another AI project called Gemini is taking center stage. This would serve as fierce competition for GPT models by OpenAI.

Clearly, the goal seems to be making the concept of AI more useful for the world’s users and ensuring it’s approached in a more sensible and responsible manner, the Google CEO adds. Only then can it prove to serve great benefits that are actually worth it, he further explained.

And that is the same mission that Google plans on fulfilling in the upcoming ten years and even after that.

While no other updates were provided in this regard, and no queries were answered by the tech giant’s spokesperson, we can see that Google is definitely taking AI more seriously than others. And seeing the CEO take the lead during a time of great celebrations for the company is proof of just that.

Zoom Enters The Built-In Generative AI Assistant Game And Here’s How Users Can Benefit

The popular videoconferencing platform called Zoom is making its entry into the world of generative AI assistants.

The company just launched a blog post that spoke about the arrival of Zoom AI Companion, which was previously known as Zoom IQ.

Therefore, all the users that already hold subscriptions to such paid services will now attain access to features immediately.

After mapping to all of these challenges that are usually found on normal workdays, we’re seeing the company speak in detail about how users can get better equipped and make the most of this kind of intelligence to the best of their abilities. But the question on many people’s minds is linked to what this new companion is offering at this moment in time.

For starters, it’s going to assist with designing chats while helping users save time along the way. Similarly, it would assist with focusing on several different projects too. For instance, you might be bummed out about joining meetings late because you’re worried you missed out on the important details.

But you can always get a brief of what went on, thanks to a summary provided by this AI companion. In the same way, you’ll be given access to certain questions regarding meeting content and even if you don’t want a summary, you’ll always have the option to get one for future reference.

Important details worth a glance would be highlighted along the way too for ease.

The company says this is just the start and more expansion is coming soon in terms of its functionalities. Moreover, users would even be allowed to chat with assistants via questions about natural language. It would also be getting help on various tasks like meeting preps, brief summaries of chats, making emails, and getting the right documents in place.

In addition to that, this new AI assistant will help in filing tickets for greater support and even provide real-time details about what went on during a meeting. They would analyze calls and texts too. So what we’re going to be seeing is a more federate mode of working for AI models.

This will ensure the AI companion gets the best results including Zoom’s own language model, alongside the usual Llama 2 of Meta, and others. And thanks to such an offering, the app’s users can benefit greatly from no hassle linked to selecting the right model to get the best features.

But as we speak, training such models continues to be a very controversial affair. There’s a new outcry by the general public regarding this matter and with not only a day of the news going viral, people are more concerned about how the assistants would be trained and which data they would use.

This was a part of the company’s newly launched and updated terms of service which it says it would make use of the data belonging to those using the platform and no option would be provided to select an out option.

A recent blog post regarding this subject added how the company would be providing the greatest form of transparency related to the matter and they were committed to giving out clarity on such approaches. This includes how content gets shared and which AI features become a part of it.

These points were again repeated when more details surrounding this new AI assistant went viral. They added how no audio, chats, posts, or even videos belonging to users were getting shared for the sake of training the app’s model or any others belonging to third parties.

Instagram Boosts Privacy With New Close Friends Option

There was a time when the Instagram and Facebook combo seemed like it would never get surpassed. In spite of the fact that this is the case, the ever shifting landscape of social media has forced Instagram as well as its parent company Meta to sort out their priorities. This has led to Instagram introducing a slew of new features, with privacy taking center stage.

Focusing on privacy is essential because of the fact that this is the sort of thing that could potentially end up convincing people that Meta owned apps are safe. With all of that having been said and now out of the way, it is important to note that Instagram is doubling down on this with a new feature that can allow you to restrict access to your posts to your Close Friends circle (as spotted by Lia Haberman and Jordan Shalhoub).

This will work similarly to how the Close Friends option works for Instagram stories with all things having been considered and taken into account. Users will be able to see this in the Audience Selection drop down menu, and chances are that even more privacy options will be thrown into the mix.

The goal here is to give users more security than might have been the case otherwise by enabling them to have complete control over who can check their posts out. Adding a prompt in the creation flow makes the process far easier to master as well.

This marks the first time that the Close Friends option has been brought to the main feed. It has previously been used in Notes as well as Reels, and most users will be overjoyed that they can take advantage of this enhanced level of privacy in their day to day Instagram usage as well.

Privacy has become the name of the game, with most users preferring to create insular online communities instead of going for mass appeal. This move is certainly a positive step in the right direction, and all eyes will be on Instagram to see what other new privacy features it has around the corner which will be released in the near to distant future.

67% of Americans Believe Companies Should Get Involved in Politics

The question of whether or not corporations should voice their opinions on politics has been raging for quite some time now, and American sentiments have changed drastically over the years. A report recently released by the Morning Consult shed some light on the matter at hand, revealing that Americans increasingly want companies to participate in politics to some extent.

With all of that having been said and now out of the way, it is important to note that 27% of Americans say that companies should always make their political leanings clear cut. A further 40% stated that companies should only get involved if the politics in question have something or the other to do with the products and services that they provide. Just 33% of the Americans that took part in this survey indicated that companies should never get involved no matter what.

This is up considerably from 2021, when 39% of Americans felt that companies should not indicate their political inclinations and just 37% and 24% respectively felt that they should reveal their politics when they pertain to their products or just in general.

Surprisingly, Gen Z is actually less likely to want an ethical version of consumerism with all things having been considered and taken into account. 56% of Gen Z said that they wanted it, compared to the national average of 59%. In spite of the fact that this is the case, 21% of Americans have reported that they boycotted a brand over politics in the past, which just goes to show that this desire is not going to go away anytime soon.

56% of Americans feel like companies are already getting more political, but they seem less certain about which end of the political spectrum companies are falling on. 28% believed that companies were becoming more culturally conservative, but 39% stated that they are actually becoming more liberal than might have been the case otherwise.

Either way, the politicization of corporate culture is underway. As more and more consumers demand companies to pick a side, the era of non-partisan corporations might be a thing of the past.
