The next special guest to honour us with their presence in our Ask the UXperts Slack channel is Amanda Stockwell and we’ll be talking about the differences between Agile, Lean, and Lean Startup, and how to adapt our UX research for those environments.
Working in an Agile development environment means you don’t always get as much time as you’d like to conduct research, so in this session we’ll chat with Amanda about some of the ways that we can adapt our methodology so that we don’t compromise our values or principles.
The Details
Meet Amanda Stockwell
Amanda is the vice president of user experience at 352 Inc., where she leads a team that provides research, design, and UX strategy services to a variety of clients. She has spent most of the last decade focused on finding innovative ways to understand end users and embed that knowledge into the design process.
Amanda’s expertise has helped companies better assimilate user-centered design to improve their existing products and get new projects off the ground. She frequently writes and speaks about all things UX.
When she’s not performing UX magic, Amanda likes to sunbathe with her spoiled pooch by the ocean, teach fitness classes and eat cheese. Follow Amanda on Twitter at @MandaLaceyS.
How to Ask Your Questions
If you can’t make the live session but have questions, we’d love to collect them ahead of time and we’ll ask Amanda on your behalf. You can submit your questions here. We’ll publish the responses (along with the full transcript) in the days following the session.
Here are a few question ideas about user requirements to get you started:
- What are some of the considerations for choosing research methods in an Agile environment?
- What are the key differences between researching in an Agile environment and a more traditional waterfall setting?
- Do faster timelines mean that you need to take shortcuts? Are there smart ways to do that in order to ensure that you don’t compromise on quality?
How does Ask the UXperts work?
These sessions run for approximately an hour and best of all, they don’t cost a cent. We use a dedicated public Slack channel. That means that there is no audio or video, but a full transcript will be posted up on here in the days following the session.
