Google Launches Gemini Live For More ‘In-Depth’ Voice Chats
The latest rollout is said to cater to more in-depth voice conversations on the Gemini chatbot. The product was first unveiled after getting announced at the company’s I/O developer conference this year and it’s finally going live.
For now, it’s just a limited alpha but the idea of having comprehensive voice chats through the company’s AI voice assistant is another breakthrough launch. Google promises consistent chats that are more emotionally expressive and realistic in nature. You can also speak in between the chatbot’s conversation by interrupting and making the most of multi-turn dialogue as well.
Before, asking follow-up queries was not possible. Now, the chatbot is enabled to follow your tone and pattern of speech live.
Google described the entire matter through a new blog post where it boasted the 10 different natural-sounding voices that enable you to provide responses. Hence, no need to worry about your tone, speed, or interruptions as Gemini Live will adjust accordingly. Just pretend like you’re talking to a human being as everything stays the same.
Other than that, Google says it’s hands-free, an option that those on the run can avail. Keep on talking into the app or when the device is locked. All the chats could be paused and then resumed at any given moment in time.
As far as productivity is concerned, it’s right up there. Imagine preparing for a job interview. You can simply rehearse before the next meeting or practice giving a speech to a chatbot with ease. The produce allows you to gain more insights on how to make your speaking skills better, including some useful tips and tricks to nail any conversation that puts you on the spot.
Another major advantage over OpenAI’s Advanced Voice Mode is enhanced memory. The offering has a longer context window. This means taking in a lot of information and providing logical reasoning regarding that. So you can go on and on, and engage in back-and-forth discussions, before finally producing a written response.
Google says Gemini Live makes use of the newest models that give it a more conversational touch. It’s a huge context window to benefit from where users can take part in long chats through Live.
The promises are plenty but how well Google stands against them is a question worth pondering that only time can tell. There is one thing missing that Google displayed at the developer’s conference for this product. It’s the multimodal output.
Google first rolled out pre-recorded content displaying Gemini Live showing responses to users’ backgrounds through images and recordings captured via phone cameras. Hence, Google did speak about how it’s arriving sometime this year. But it failed in terms of adding more details on the subject.
Gemini Live will also be rolled out in different languages this year and can also be available for iOS users. For now, it’s just in English. Also, it’s not free. Only those with Gemini Advanced subscriptions will benefit which costs $20 a month.
However, Google does promise more freebies for Gemini coming soon this year. This includes making overlay more prominent on the app through more questions about what’s next. Simply press the Power button and say the term ‘Hey Google’ to produce a vast array of images. These can be edited into other Google apps such as Gmail.
Google is also equipping Gemini with more Google services. This includes more activities with Calendar, YouTube Music, Tasks, and Utilities. Media, volume, Bluetooth, flashlight, and more.
As per the company’s latest blog post, it looks like there’s a lot you can do with Gemini. The list of tasks is plenty and it’s like your own mini assistant. From finding what to cook for dinner to curating the perfect music playlist for date night, trust Gemini to do it all.
Did we mention how Gemini is coming to Android tablets soon? Clearly, there’s a lot to anticipate here and we’ll keep you updated as it happens.

Reach Drops 65% On Prominent Instagram Accounts After Meta’s Ban On Political Content
Facebook’s parent firm has decided that any account posting such material would be restricted. They’ve stayed true to their claims as per the study’s findings. This revealed a whopping 65% drop in reach after it was displayed.
A lot of accounts in the discussion are prominent on Instagram, having a wide user base.
As per authors from Accountable Tech, five such accounts that had 13.5 million users were studied. Amongst them included Hilary Clinton and the likes. Therefore, these accounts were requested to share some analytics with the company so a change in reach could be determined.
Between a span of three months, the effects were noted. As per Meta, the restrictions are for the betterment of users. However, not everyone agreed. Many felt it was censorship and the benchmarks used for differentiating categories were not fair.
The filters used were also deemed controversial and some went as far as to call the act unjust. Remember, it’s an important year for US Politics. Therefore, such behavior was expected.
The executive director for Accountable Tech says Meta’s decision to ban political content is negative in terms of silencing people’s voices. Getting accurate data and staying informed is a right of every user. Hence, Meta is barring a person’s human rights by not allowing this.
Some discussion had to do with how a small decision by Meta could have a mega impact on its users, especially creators, and marketers who invest a lot of money and effort to sell products and services.
According to Meta, the drop in views might stem from various causes, highlighting that variations in reach are typical.
Others feel that the act is so concerning as it was limiting the reach of this material in a very systematic manner.
Meta obviously has a lot of power and by limiting certain types of content, it might be oppressing people from their human rights. Calls to end the restrictions and bans on political material were also put forward. Again, Meta is yet to pay attention.

TikTok Displays Incomplete Picture Of China’s Reality Versus Other Social Media Apps, New Study Finds
This includes all the human rights abuses taking place and, making it harder to search for on this platform. Whether you look for them through key phrases or keywords, the results are limited.
TikTok users based in the US revealed how ‘anti-Chinese’ terms are also less likely to show anything negative about the country. This includes propaganda against the nation’s leading political parties.
When similar searches were rolled out on Instagram and YouTube, analysts found much more content.
To better reveal their findings, the authors created 24 accounts on all the different leading platforms. This would better depict the experience of teens in the US. Hence, when they looked for certain key terms linked to controversial topics like China’s human rights abuse, TikTok showed very little material.
Most of the content was positive or neutral while that seen on Instagram and YouTube was the exact opposite. So the more users are using TikTok, the more likely they’ll get exposed to China’s positive offerings. It’s a stark contrast to that seen elsewhere.
Meanwhile, one representative from the TikTok app spoke about how it doesn’t agree with the findings produced by the NCRI. On the other hand, another survey spoke about how using the app daily for a long time left people with a positive image of China, as compared to those who didn’t use the app.
TikTok fails to agree. According to them, rolling out new accounts and looking for key terms isn’t a reflection of the actual users’ experience. He also mentioned how TikTok is not as old as others in the market. Hence, a lot of the history they point out isn’t found on the platform.
One spokesperson for the ByteDance-owned platform went as far as to claim that the study was useless and displayed false conclusions. He also mentioned that it didn’t have any peer-reviews to validate the findings.
The information is important because of the timing. Remember, Biden’s administration has banned TikTok until it separates from its Chinese roots. The app is considered a national security threat and it has until January 19 to make a decision before the complete ban ensues.
The thoughts related to TikTok spreading pro-China images to American users, especially the youth, is a smart tactic. But the Congress is well aware of this and considered it as the major factor in banning the app before it was too late.
The authors in this study do agree that the findings are not definitive proof of how employees are using manipulation to display China in a positive light. But it does build up on what the study revealed in the past. This had to do with promoting or demoting content that is in China’s best interest.

Continuous USB Connected/Disconnected Notifications on Android? Discover Effective Solutions Tailored for Samsung Smartphones
The intermittent USB connected/disconnected notifications is one of the many annoying and commonplace issues faced by Android users, specially Samsung users, trying their best to get rid of it unsuccessfully. The problem causes only confusion among Android users, for no ostensible cause could be pointed out, so some just leave it as it is.
But you should be concerned about the issue, for not only there is an underlying cause behind it, but also the notification keeps your smartphone screen on and keeps draining its battery.
The following are the potential causes behind popping up of the notification along with their solutions:
Inspect the Charging Port for Water Damage
Sometimes, moisture in the charging port can trigger continuous USB connect/disconnect notifications. If your Samsung Galaxy phone has been exposed to water or high humidity (which is the case in summer/rainy seasons), it’s crucial to address this as soon as possible. First, power off your Android device to prevent any potential short circuits. Use a dry microfiber cloth to gently dab the charging port and absorb any excess moisture. Avoid inserting anything into the port, as this can cause further damage. After ensuring the port is completely dry, restart your phone and see if the issue persists. If the notifications continue, the moisture may have caused lasting damage, and you might need professional assistance, maybe visiting an official phone repairing store can save you device.
Clean the Charging Port and Check the USB Cable for Damage
A very common cause of repeated USB notifications is debris in the charging port or a damaged USB cable. Dust, lint, and other particles can interfere with the connection, leading to erratic notifications. Gently clean the charging port using a dry microfiber cloth or a soft brush to remove any extra material. If the problem persists while charging, inspect your USB cable for signs of wear, such as frayed ends or bent connectors. Testing with a different cable can help determine if the original one is faulty. Additionally, check any OTG cables or adapters you use, as these can also be sources of connection issues.
Using An Incompatible Charger
Using an incompatible charger to charge your phone might result in the continuous popping up of the connect/disconnect notification, even after disconnecting the charger. For example, utilizing Samsung galaxy S21 charger for charging your galaxy S9 phone could cause the issue.
So try using an original S9 charger to charge the phone, and hopefully your issue will be resolved.
Attach the Charger and Power Off the Phone
If you're experiencing persistent USB connect/disconnect notifications, try this little hack: Connect your phone's charger and then power off the device. When the charger is connected, turn off your phone by pressing and holding the power button until the shutdown option appears, and select Power Off. With the phone turned off, you may see the charging circle or indicator on the screen, signaling that the device is recognizing the charger even without being fully operational. After a few moments, restart your device by holding the power button until the Samsung logo appears. This process helps reset the USB connection and can resolve temporary glitches (for some users) that may be causing the notifications.
Corrupt and Outdated USB Cache Data
Such alerts could be the result of the cumulative corrupt and outdated USB cache data on your smartphone. Go and clear USB cache data to solve the problem.
Follow the steps to clear USB cache data on your android smartphones:
1) Go to your smartphone settings and select apps.
2) click on the three-dot option at the top right corner of the page and select show system apps from the menu.
3) Click on USBsettings from the given system apps.

Why Using A VPN Is Crucial To Use In This Technical Era
Every day the more becomes more interconnected through various networks, most of them being online. The internet plays a vital role in our daily lives, and staying online and available through the internet is almost a requirement in this technical era. Internet connectivity allows for communication and entertainment across time and space, and for work and education to be accessible online.
However, this connectivity does come with a significant risk to your privacy and security. Luckily, there are options available to protect yourself online, including using a Virtual Private Network, also known as a VPN, which is a way to protect yourself from online threats.
VPN – a gamechanger in cybersecurity
Image: DIW-AigenThe way a VPN works is quite basic. Imagine a tunnel which protects you from any activities outside the tunnel. In the same way, a VPN creates a tunnel which is secure and encrypted. This tunnel connects your device with the internet, by rerouting your internet traffic through a remote server. This remote server masks your IP address, resulting in making your online activities almost untraceable. This process protects your data from potential hackers. Furthermore, it ensures that your privacy is protected from surveillance by Internet Service Providers, also known as ISPs, and government agencies.
A VPN enhances online privacy
Privacy is a fundamental human right. However, this right is constantly under threat in the digital age from vicious hackers. Tracking is everywhere: Every click, search, and website visit can be tracked, logged, and analyzed by various entities. Both ISPs, advertisers, and cybercriminals can monitor your behavior online, and based on this data they can build profiles that can be used for targeted advertising. In some cases, it can also be used for more vicious purposes.
With a VPN, you can shield your online activities from all these prying eyes. A VPN masks your IP address and encrypts your data, which ensures that your browsing history, personal information, and communications continues to remain private. This type of privacy is especially crucial to have when you use public Wi-Fi networks, which are known to be hubs for hackers.
Safeguard your personal and sensitive data
Cybersecurity threats are omnipresent. There are so many methods hackers use to intercept data. These methods includes phishing, malware, and man-in-the-middle attacks. Such methods are especially prevalent in public Wi-Fi networks, in which data is most of the time transmitted without encryption.
It is almost impossible for hackers to decipher your data, since a VPN can encrypt your internet traffic. Even if a hacker manages to intercept your data, it will be almost impossible to decipher the data. In this why you are safeguarding sensitive information, such as your banking details, login credentials, and personal communication.
Geographic restrictions and censorship
As of today, the internet is unfortunately not equally accessible to everyone. There are many websites and online services which use geo-restrictions. This is a function which limits online access of content of sites based on where you are located. For example, many streaming platforms offer different content libraries in different regions, and certain websites may be entirely inaccessible from specific countries.
This is why VPN has become a crucial factor in ensuring equal access to the internet worldwide. A VPN bypasses geo-restrictions, because the IP address is masked. Due to this function, it will appear as if you are browsing from a different location than you are. This gives you access to a broader range of content, while it allows individuals in strict regimes to work around stringent internet censorship. If you are in a country with a restrictive regime, you can use a VPN to access social media, news websites, and other online services that might otherwise be blocked.
Protect your anonymity
Being anonymous online is becoming harder. Websites and online services collect big amounts of data about their users, sometimes without explicit consent. This type of data collection can lead to invasive targeted advertising, and in some cases even identify theft.
With a VPN, your anonymity is protected by masking your IP address and encrypting your internet traffic. The protection from a VPN means that websites and online services can't easily track your online activities, and if they can, it is hard for them to link it back to you.
VPNs improve the online security
VPNs do not only protect your privacy and data. A VPN can enhance your overall online security, since many VPN services offer additional security features. These include malware protection, ad-blocking, and firewall functionality. All of these features provide an added layer of defense against cyber threats, which ensures that your device and data remain secure.
A VPN also protects against Distributed Denial of Service attacks, also known as DDoS attacks. These attacks are commonly used to disrupt online activities such as gaming or streaming. Since the VPN masks your IP address, it is harder for attackers to target you with a DDoS attack.
Ensure safe remote work for your company
Many companies have seen an increase in remote work, and to smoothly allow this setup, VPNs are indispensable tools for companies. Since most remote workers need access to company networks and sensitive information from various locations and various sources of internet, safety measures are crucial.
A VPN ensures that all the data transmitted between remote workers and the company network is encrypted and secure. This will prevent unauthorized access, while it protects sensitive business information from being intercepted by criminals.
